Age-standardization and Standard Population

Objectives: The objective of this study is to provide examples situations in which the relative ranking age-standardized rates depends on choice standard population and emphasize importance selecting an appropriate population.Methods: Mathematical methods are used for elaborate variance rates. Examples from international comparisons suicide regional cancer incidence Korea were used.Results: worldwide Republic varies depending (OECD vs. WHO standard). Similarly, rank South Korean by region also varied selected (2000 mid-year 2020 population).
